There is no Statutory Regulation of Sports Therapy, nor are there any plans for this to happen* (as stated annually by the HCPC and Dept for Health).   STO will continue to lobby for greater recognition and protection of title.

Whilst there is no Statutory Regulation of Sports Therapy, STO was instrumental in obtaining voluntary regulation for Sports Therapists through the CNHC.   CNHC is part of the UK's Accredited Register scheme, through the PSA, which governs all statutory health and medical bodies, we recommend our members register with CNHC for greater recognition.

The Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)

​

CNHC is the UK voluntary regulator for complementary healthcare practitioners that was set up with government funding and support to protect the public by providing a UK voluntary register of complementary therapists. CNHC's register has been approved as an Accredited Register by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. This means CNHC has met the Professional Standards Authority's demanding standards. All CNHC registered practitioners are entitled to use CNHC's quality mark, demonstrating a commitment to professionalism and high standards. The public and those who commission the services of complementary healthcare practitioners can choose with confidence by looking for the CNHC quality mark.

CNHC Registration

CNHC has agreed that the Sports Therapy Organisation may verify applications for CNHC registration, and we encourage members to register to gain the CNHC quality mark.

​

If you wish to be part of the CNHC, the only PSA accredited voluntary register and Sports Therapy regulator, and work with their 'quality mark', please read the Code of Conduct and then use the application form below to apply.

​

In most cases, verification of STO members is free of charge, however, if you have an overseas qualification, a charge may be made.

​

Non-STO Members are charged for STO verification of qualifications. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us for details of fees, which will vary depending on whether it is the UK or an overseas qualification.
