Sports TherapyRegulation in the UK
There is no Statutory Regulation of Sports Therapy, nor is there any plans for this to happen* (as stated annually by the HCPC and Dept for Health).
The Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)
CNHC is the UK voluntary regulator for complementary healthcare practitioners that was set up with government funding and support to protect the public by providing a UK voluntary register of complementary therapists. CNHC’s register has been approved as an Accredited Register by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. This means CNHC has met the Professional Standards Authority’s demanding standards. All CNHC registered practitioners are entitled to use CNHC’s quality mark which demonstrates a commitment to professionalism and high standards. The public and those who commission the services of complementary healthcare practitioners can choose with confidence, by looking for the CNHC quality mark.
46-48 East Smithfield
CNHC has agreed that the Sports Therapy Organisation may verify applications for CNHC registration and we encourage members to register in order to gain the CNHC quality mark.
If you wish to be part of the CNHC; the only PSA accredited voluntary register and Sports Therapy regulator, and work with their ‘quality mark’, please read the Code of Conduct and then use the application form below to apply.
In most cases verification of STO members is free of charge, however, if you have an overseas qualification a charge may be made.
Non-STO Members are charged for STO verification of qualifications. Please contact us for details of fees, which will vary depending whether it is a UK or an overseas qualification.
Please note, there is a cost to Register with CNHC, and these can be found on their website.
